The Instrumentation Technician is
responsible for installing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining
instrumentation and control systems during offshore shutdown projects, ensuring
safe and efficient operations in hazardous environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shutdown Execution:
- Perform maintenance, testing, and calibration of:
- Process instruments
(pressure/temperature/flow transmitters)
- Control valves, shutdown
valves (SDVs), and actuators
- Fire & gas detection
systems
- DCS/PLC interfaces
- Replace faulty instruments and
conduct loop checks
- Follow QatarEnergy (QP) safety
procedures for hazardous area work
- Implement proper isolation
(LOTO) for instrument maintenance
- Participate in toolbox talks
and safety meetings
- Diagnose and repair instrument
faults in control systems
- Conduct 4-20mA loop testing
and signal verification
- Interface with electrical
teams for integrated systems
- Maintain calibration records
and certification documents
- Update instrument databases
and as-built drawings
- Complete work orders in CMMS
(SAP, Maximo)
- Assist in pre-commissioning
and functional testing
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering or
equivalent
- Certifications:
- COMPEX (Ex01-Ex04) for hazardous areas (mandatory)
- BOSIET/HUET with CA-EBS (offshore survival)
- OPITO H2S/BA certification
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in oil &
gas instrumentation
- 3+ years offshore experience,
preferably in shutdown projects
- Familiarity with QP, Shell, or
TotalEnergies standards
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with calibration
equipment (Fluke, Druck)
- Knowledge of Foundation Field bus, HART protocols
- Ability to interpret P&IDs
and loop diagrams
