We are seeking a highly motivated Part-time Research Assistant to assist with research projects in the laboratory of Professor Yasser Majeed in the Biological Sciences Department at CMU-Q. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment. This role involves supporting ongoing research projects, collecting and analyzing data, preparing progress reports, and supervising undergraduate students.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct experiments, organize, analyze, and manage data, ensure data accuracy and integrity, assist in the preparation and maintenance of research reagents and supplies.
Analyze experimental data.
Prepare reports and summaries of research findings.
Provide laboratory supervision to undergraduate students.
Attend lab meetings to update the principal investigator on research progress. Ensure research compliance with university policies.
Essential requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences.
Demonstrable experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques (e.g., Nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, CRISPR/Cas9-editing).
Prior academic research experience.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
A Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences or related (e.g., Molecular Biology). Experience with adipocyte biology and use of CRISPR/Cas9 technology in mammalian cells. Experience with supervising students in the laboratory.
