Job Summary:
The Internal Auditor – F&B is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes within the Food & Beverage operations. This role ensures compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and industry standards while identifying opportunities for cost optimization, fraud prevention, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute internal audits across F&B operations, including procurement, production, inventory, sales, and cash handling.
- Assess compliance with internal policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, or areas at risk of loss or fraud.
- Conduct regular and surprise audits of outlets, warehouses, kitchens, and front-of-house/back-of-house operations.
- Evaluate internal control systems and recommend improvements.
- Verify accuracy of stock levels, usage reports, wastage reports, and costings in line with recipe and sales data.
- Audit cash handling procedures, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and revenue recognition practices.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations where applicable.
- Prepare detailed audit reports with findings and actionable recommendations.
- Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Assist in risk assessments and development of annual audit plans.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), CPA, or equivalent certification is an advantage.
- 3–5 years of internal audit experience, preferably in the F&B or hospitality industry.
- Strong understanding of F&B operational workflows and cost control measures.
- Knowledge of POS systems, ERP, and inventory management software.
- High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel to multiple locations/outlets.
Preferred Competencies:
- Familiarity with HACCP and food safety audit procedures.
- Experience auditing central kitchens, catering, or large-scale F&B operations.
- Knowledge of fraud investigation techniques and forensic auditing.
