Job Description
Stewarding Supervisor
The Stewarding Supervisor oversees the stewarding team to ensure the cleanliness, hygiene, and proper maintenance of all kitchen and food preparation areas. This role ensures that all equipment, utensils, and kitchen areas meet safety and sanitation standards in line with company and local health regulations.
- Supervise and coordinate stewarding team members, ensuring all duties are completed to standard.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, dishwashing stations, storage areas, and equipment.
- Ensure all cleaning materials and chemicals are properly used and stored according to safety protocols.
- Monitor the operation and maintenance of dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment.
- Schedule and organize shifts to ensure adequate staffing during peak and off-peak hours.
- Conduct training for new and existing stewards on hygiene, safety, and cleaning procedures.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and kitchen equipment; submit requisition requests as needed.
- Coordinate with kitchen and banquet teams to ensure timely delivery and availability of clean equipment and utensils.
- Inspect kitchen areas to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards (HACCP or equivalent).
- Report equipment malfunctions and maintenance needs promptly.
- Promote teamwork, motivation, and a positive work environment among the stewarding team.
- Handle any guest or operational concerns related to kitchen hygiene promptly and professionally.
Qualifications
- Previous experience (2+ years) in stewarding or kitchen operations, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.
- Knowledge of hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards (HACCP certification is a plus).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team in a high-pressure environment.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and carry out manual tasks.
- Flexible with work schedules, including weekends and holidays.
