Job Overview:
McDermott has an immediate opening in Qatar for a Senior Contracts Specialist with a background in EPCI projects. The Contracts Specialist will support the Project Contracts Manager in providing the contractual and commercial oversight over the relevant contractual and commercial project functional groups to ensure contract compliance, overall commercial integrity and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Provide support to Contracts Manager as the contract and commercial liaison between the functional groups, ensuring arcuate contractual data is used
- Provide appropriate support and guidance to the Contracts Manager and the project team for the effective management and administration of the Prime Contract and interaction with the Client consistent with McDermott’s practices and procedural guidelines
- Asist the Contracts Manager to drive the change management process by identifying and pursuing opportunities for positive change to the project
- Reports directly to the Project Contracts Manager who in turn reports to the Project Director who has overall responsibility for delivery of the project within the required cost and schedule constraints
- The Contracts Specialist will receive functional direction and support from the Director of Contract Management
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-10 years working experience preferably in Offshore, Subsea, or Onshore Oil and Gas related projects
- Extensive experience in complex lump sum projects
- Preferred English speaking and writing fluently
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Contractual and commercial knowledge to ensure contract compliance, overall commercial integrity and timely delivery
- Fluent in the creation and editing of all Microsoft Office Suite documents
- Foster an environment of teamwork to maintain high group morale and cooperation
- Ability to multi-task, with excellent organizational and time management skills to achieve project goals
- Excellent Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Good technical background and knowledge of oil and gas construction industry
- Assist and ensure the preparation of Pre-Contract Award:
- Support non legal qualifications to the Contract as part of the bid submission, alignment of terms and conditions with project documentation such as scope, execution strategy, schedule, administration, etc. and identification of any relevant lessons learned from historical projects
- Support in PROM Activities
- Support in Customer Contract Negotiations as required

- Organize and chair Commercial Management meetings and ensure sufficient challenge of growth/change opportunities with Customer for Project Management, Engineering, SCM, Fabrication, Construction, Marine Installation, Hook Up and Commissioning, Consortium or JV Partner, QHSE, Legal, Finance, Business Line Management, EXCOM, Customer/Client
- Develop Lessons Learned for bid submissions and the bid process for wider cascade to the business via the Estimating and Proposals Managers and required close out actions if any
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, legal, Commercial or Quantity Surveying and 5 years of functional experience + 2 years of experience in Contracts Management
- Proven experience in contract management within the Engineering Procurement Construction and Installation (EPC/EPCI) industry, in the areas of Energy Transition, Onshore, or Offshore or Subsea and Floating Facilities (FPSO/FPU)
- In-depth knowledge of EPC/EPCI project lifecycles, including design, procurement, construction, and installation phases
- Is able to build rapport with and gains respect from employees with varied experience and background · Familiarity with industry-specific terminologies, contracts, and standards
- Strong negotiation skills with a focus on achieving mutually beneficial outcomes
- Ability to analyze complex contract requirements and identify potential risks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders
- Proficient in using contract management software and MS Office Suite
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and meet tight deadlines
