Key Accountabilities:
Role purpose:
Responsible to motivate and encourage visitors to take part in the range of challenge activities available within the gallery and inspire them to adopt a healthier and more active lifestyle. Welcome visitors and able to host a group of visitors and ensure that visitors experience safe and wonderful time at the museum. Support delivery of outreach and community activities outside of the museum, for example, visits to schools.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- The Activator will be required to understand and explain the purpose of the Activation Zone and help visitors access challenges, collect their physical literacy profiles and register to the website for further information and engagement opportunities
- As a critical member of the Activation Team, the Activator will be required to work in collaboration with all staff on duty in the gallery, support colleagues during busy periods, provide reports and feedback on an ongoing basis and make suggestions on how to improve the visitor experience
- The Activator will be a role model for the Activation Zone and for the adoption of healthy and active lifestyles. There will be a requirement to deliver relevant training and advice to a range of people and groups, including families, school groups and corporate groups.
- Due to the active nature of the gallery and the Activator position, it will be essential that all team members wear sports clothing (which will always be provided) whilst on duty. Changing facility is available within the gallery.
- In addition, due to the long opening hours of the museum, Activators will be required to work a rotating shift pattern which will include a requirement to be on duty during the evenings and at weekends.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or Associate Degree, preferably in Physical Education, Sports Science, Health Promotion, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in sports coaching, or a similar public-facing, physically active role.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and confidently with visitors of all ages, genders, and nationalities.
- High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and a passion for sports and healthy living.
- Fluency in English is essential; ability to speak Arabic is highly preferred.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Willingness to work rotational shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Comfortable wearing sports attire while on duty (uniform provided).
