Job description
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Prepare baseline programs, progress updates, and recovery schedules.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align schedules with project objectives.
- Monitor project progress and identify delays, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports including S-curves, histograms, and earned value analysis (EVA).
- Update and track actual progress against baseline using critical path method (CPM).
- Prepare and maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for all deliverables and activities.
- Forecast manpower, equipment, and material requirements in line with project timelines.
- Analyze deviations, delays, and productivity losses and suggest corrective actions.
- Coordinate with procurement and engineering teams to align deliverables with site execution.
- Support the preparation of extension of time (EOT) claims and delay analysis reports.
- Generate look-ahead schedules (1-week, 2-week, monthly) for construction teams.
- Ensure planning activities comply with contract requirements and client specifications.
- Liaise with clients and consultants during project meetings to present progress status.
- Maintain tracking logs for procurement, submittals, RFIs, and drawing approvals.
- Integrate subcontractor programs into the master project schedule.
- Assist cost control teams in linking time with cost data for accurate cash flow forecasting.
- Conduct risk assessments and schedule impact evaluations.
- Support project closeout by preparing final project reports and schedule summaries.
- Train and mentor junior planning engineers on scheduling tools and reporting techniques.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Certification in Planning Tools such as Primavera P6
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from PMI
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Excel.
- Solid understanding of project controls, cost planning, and earned value management (EVM).
- Familiarity with FIDIC contract conditions and Qatar-specific regulations (e.g., Ashghal, Kahramaa).
- Strong knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) and local authority approval processes.
- Minimum 12+ years of experience in project planning, with at least 6 years in the Gulf region.
- Experience in handling large-scale infrastructure, building, or oil & gas projects.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and coordination skills.
- Ability to prepare and defend EOT claims, delay analysis, and time impact assessments.
- Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus but not mandatory).
- Valid UPDA/MMUP Certification (preferred or required by some clients in Qatar).
