Position Overview:
The ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle)
Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational
support of ROV systems used in subsea construction, inspection, and
intervention for a Marine EPC Project in Qatar. The role ensures ROV
equipment is functioning optimally to support underwater operations in
compliance with IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) and
project safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ ROV Maintenance & Repair
· Perform pre/post-dive inspections,
troubleshooting, and repairs on ROV systems (electrical, hydraulic,
mechanical).
· Maintain thruster systems,
manipulators, cameras, sensors, and TMS (Tether Management Systems).
· Conduct software updates and system
diagnostics for ROV control systems.
✔ Operational Support
· Assist ROV Pilots during
subsea missions (survey, construction, inspection).
· Ensure tooling and payloads (sonar,
CP probes, cleaning tools) are operational.
· Monitor ROV performance data and
report anomalies.
✔ Workshop & Offshore Duties
· Manage spare parts inventory and
order replacements as needed.
· Support ROV deployment/recovery from
vessels and ensure safe handling.
· Follow IMCA/company maintenance
procedures and documentation.
✔ Safety & Compliance
· Adhere to QHSE policies, risk
assessments (JSA), and emergency protocols.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
· Certifications:
o IMCA ROV Technician Certification (or equivalent).
o Electrical/Mechanical/Hydraulic certifications (preferred).
o Offshore safety training (BOSIET, HUET,
CA-EBS).
· Experience:
o 3+ years as an ROV Technician in offshore
oil & gas or marine construction.
o Hands-on experience with Work-Class
ROVs (Schilling, Oceaneering, Saab).
o Familiarity with subsea tooling,
sensors, and survey equipment.
· Technical
Skills:
o Proficient in hydraulic systems,
electronics, and fiber optics.
o Knowledge of ROV software (e.g.,
Vector, KONGSBERG).
