Job Purpose:
To perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with established standards and protocols. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist ensures safe and accurate use of radiopharmaceuticals and imaging equipment to support effective patient diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, administer, and document radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Operate imaging equipment (e.g., gamma cameras, PET/CT scanners) to capture high-quality images.
- Follow established safety protocols in handling radioactive materials and ensuring radiation protection for patients, staff, and self.
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures to ensure patient understanding and cooperation.
- Monitor patients during procedures and report any adverse reactions or incidents.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including dose calculations and imaging results.
- Ensure proper functioning and routine maintenance of nuclear medicine equipment.
- Assist in quality control and quality assurance activities within the department.
- Comply with local, national, and international regulations regarding nuclear medicine practices.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training activities.
- Collaborate with physicians, physicists, and other healthcare professionals for optimal patient care.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiologic Sciences with a specialization in Nuclear Medicine.
- Valid license or registration with regulatory body, e.g., meeting DHP – Qatar eligibility for licensing.
- Certification in BLS (Basic Life Support); ACLS preferred.
