Job Summary:
The Business Development Engineer will be responsible for driving growth across MEP Contracting, Facility Management, Trading, and Specialized Testing services. The role involves identifying new business opportunities, fostering client relationships, preparing technical and commercial proposals, and supporting tendering and estimation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market Development & Lead Generation
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in sectors including commercial/residential buildings, hotels, schools, hospitals, palaces, hypermarkets, defense, and industrial projects.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis.
- Develop strong networks with consultants, contractors, facility managers, and procurement decision-makers.
2. Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Conduct regular client meetings and presentations to promote services in MEP contracting, facility management, and specialized testing.
- Understand client requirements and provide customized solutions.
3. Tendering & Proposal Support
- Collaborate with estimation and engineering teams to prepare technically and commercially sound proposals.
- Review tender documents and prepare pre-qualification submissions.
- Participate in bid clarification meetings and coordinate all documentation.
4. Technical Sales & Product Promotion (Trading Division)
- Promote HVAC, BMS, LV panels, fire protection systems, indoor air quality solutions, lighting systems, water/leak detection meters, and other electro-mechanical products.
- Provide product presentations and demonstrations to clients and consultants.
5. Specialized Testing Services Support
- Offer client-specific solutions for services such as thermal imaging, power quality analysis, earth resistance and loop impedance tests, generator PPMs, etc.
- Coordinate with internal technical teams to deliver service excellence.
6. Reporting & Strategic Planning
- Prepare sales forecasts and performance reports.
- Assist in setting strategic goals for market expansion and revenue growth.
- Recommend improvements in service offerings based on client feedback and industry trends.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
- 8–10 years of experience in business development in the MEP/FM/Trading/Testing industry.
- Strong knowledge of GCC construction and FM markets is preferred.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to close deals and exceed sales targets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
- Valid driving license.
