Job Description
The Medical Referral Coordinator assists the medical referral process by supporting the Medical Referral Lead. The Supervisor ensures proper utilization of accepted guidelines and/or other healthcare industry criteria for writing referrals and complies with referral management protocols. The Medical Referral Coordinator supports in an administrative role patient and staff movements for case management, oversees stockage levels, and attends meetings as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for arranging all referrals to “in house” and external specialists from any contractor medical providers or IOM medical providers.
- Designate referral to a particular specialist or a broad category of specialty care indicating urgent or routine.
- Request; arrange the consultation as requested.
- Schedule transportation, medical escort, and interpreter services.
- Retrieve and file medical records; arrange invoicing and subsequent payment; log and/or enter into a database the date, time, and location of the consultation; the requested time frame; the general outcome; and add the consultation note to the medical record.
- Arrange any ongoing referrals after discussion with the original requestor.
- Data provided in the daily and monthly reports shall include the breakdown of referrals (internal, external, specialty referred to, origination of referral).
- Manage Medical Escort program.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism dealing with interdisciplinary team.
- Ensures compliance with patient confidentiality and infection control standards, as well as all policies and protocols.
- Works with clinical providers to establish medical referrals for specialty care not available in Doha, Qatar.
- Manages in the entire referral process and assist patients with scheduling emergency and urgent care according to guidance from medical staff.
- Manage Billing and invoice management for services rendered to patients referred from external sources.
- Coordinates with the International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. Assistance Center when necessary.
- Performing administrative duties including, answering incoming calls and responding to all messages for the case management and billing department.
- Providing excellent customer service responding to patient inquiries promptly and accurately.
- Active participation in day-to-day office activities, including a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve procedural processes, obtain approvals, and remain abreast of new developments, policy requirements and regulations.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all communications with coworkers and clients, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment that values diversity.
- Participate in mass-casualty drills twice a year and remain available for on-call coverage.
- Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience with electronic medical records and billing processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Required Competencies:

Required Work Experience:
Minimum of five years' experience in healthcare.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in social work or nursing or equivalent is required.
- Obtain provided Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.
Other Special Requirements:
- On call requirements as part of a rotation if required.
- This position is unaccompanied.
- Ability to obtain a base security clearance is required.
- Must be able to relocate to Doha, Qatar.
- A valid US passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
